I'm extending my free download period

Hello! 💟 I was right in the middle of editing my fourth batch of the Parks Collection sheet music and videos when I received news of our partial lockdown (MCO) being extended til the 12th of May.

The whole point of my offering the sheet music of the Parks Collection as a free download for a limited time was to show my support to everyone going through this global crisis wherever you are in the world, and I think we need this kind of creative distraction more than ever. The longer we are in lockdown, the more challenging it can become to be positive and relaxed.

I had announced initially that the free download period is until the end of April but in light of this extension here in Malaysia, I have decided to extend my free download period as well until the end of May. I hope you'll take the chance to collect the pieces as I'm so happy with how they've turned out! In the mean time, please consider chipping into my tip jar at my ko-fi page if you'd like to support my work 😘

I've just uploaded SIX new pieces (because there are 31 in total, I have to make a 6 somewhere😉). In each batch I've released, there is a favourite piece of mine hiding. Can you guess which one?

Stay safe, everyone.

Second batch of scores~ (and quarantine)

Hello! 💟

A new batch of five student pieces from the Parks Collection have been made available on the website today (check out the sheet music section)! I'm so excited about this project because the pieces have been lying dormant for months (they were composed in July 2019).

Please shout out to me if you download the pieces and tag me on social media if you play them! #pianistmisa #createmusiceveryday

The whole process of editing and finalising details, and in some cases, re-writing some sections has been so refreshing. I'm so glad to have this project to focus on, to be honest, as I otherwise feel quite flat with being couped up inside as we go into the third week of the Movement Control Order (MCO).

Here in Malaysia, we're now in the second round of a country-wide MCO for April 1-14 and things are a lot more strict now than during the first two weeks (March 18-31). We are now only allowed to travel within a 10km radius of our home and besides this, only one person is allowed to travel in the car to go and buy essentials. There are also a few districts and some building complexes which have been blocked completely for the time being.

I've only left the house twice during this whole period. I won't discuss much about the whole coronavirus situation here but I wanted to document some of it as this has been the biggest disruption the world has seen in decades, and certainly in my lifetime or my parents' lifetime. I am grateful for the authorities here who are taking everything so seriously and even though it's disruptive to our lives and has caused loss of income and freedom temporarily, I think it would have been more difficult as a freelancer/studio teacher to shut down and self-isolate if it weren't for these strict measures.

I hope everyone is safe wherever you are in the world 💜

Working from home, update

Hello!💟

As I type this, I have been under a "movement control order" (a partial lockdown of the country I reside in) since the 18th of March, 2020. I hope everyone is keeping safe and positive as much as possible in this challenging set of circumstances.

Over here in Malaysia, we are only allowed to leave the house for essentials like going to buy groceries or takeaways but not to go for a walk around the block. It's been quite a stressful time, but so far I have been working on meditating and practising yoga, trying to keep my spirits up.

Needless to say, I've stopped teaching and aside from the occasional online lesson, I'm not working at all right now. It was important for me to shift my mindset about this new situation and I decided to launch into sprucing up my online projects, starting with vlogs on my YouTube channel, and working on some sheet music for my original pieces.

Next came the spring clean of my website, which for a long time has been neglected 🙈 I will be transferring my old blog posts to this blog as soon as possible and organise the downloads so that they too will not be attached to annoying signups etc.

If you do decide to sign-up for my newsletter, I should clarify that I don't currently have a newsletter and I'll probably start doing so much later when I have all the other things under control first!

(NB: This is a copy post from a Blogger post I did on March 29, 2020 - I'm currently trying both Wix and Blogger platforms to see which suits me best. Some text has been edited) Stay safe, everyone!
